  • La Fille Bertha (Alessandra Pulixi)
    "Marocco Express". Editorial illustration for “Fashion Illustrated" magazine ("Biblioteca della Moda"), Issue n° 33. The article, written by Marco Magalini, is about the expansion of the luxury fashion market in Marocco, and the opening in there of Prada's boutiques. The outfit and the patterns are inspired by the contemporary fashion trends in Marocco. The illustration was also featured, among a selection of other eight, on my contribution to the fashion exhibition "The New Vocabulary of Italian Fashion" at "La Triennale di Milano Design Museum", curated by Paola Bertola and Vittorio Linfante (November '15- March '16).

  • Vive la France. November 2015. I immediately picked up my sketchbook when I heard about the terrorist attacks in Paris. This piece is an emotional response to the attacks; it not only shows the violence that France experienced, but also the people's fearless solidarity.

    Cover art for the book Richard II by Laura Ashe. January 2016. The title is part of the "Penguin Monarchs", series of books about Britain’s kings and queens. It is the ambitious new publishing project from Penguin, which will see 45 titles. Each one about a different English/British Monarch. The client request is to represent the monarchs artistically, rather than representationally. We imagined the hair as many tangled wires for transmitting the tension, the psychological obsession. We wanted to give our own free interpretation. Mixed media: gouache, pencil, pen, digital

This year focused on celebrating the diverse coffee culture of Australia in regard to Italy's finest handmade espresso machines and the La Marzocco "Global Family" of artisans, baristas and customers.

  • 'Square Deal' is from the solo exhibit 'Hauntings, History & Heritage' In which, 40 illustrated ink renderings were created after Beech's father passed away, and explored the haunted places of the mind, gender roles, race, the ghosts of our past, deceit, abuse, memories, fleeting moments of life and the certainty of death.


  • Seeing Race. August 2015. For the essay by university professor Leonard Moore, which talks about the ability that black history can have to transform lives – as long as it's taught right. According to Moore, his own way of teaching involves looking at "the black experience through a black lens".


  • Lesbian Hair. January 2016. Before it became acceptable to call a lesbian a lesbian, writers often indicated a character’s sexual orientation by dropping hints by way of her coiffure.


  • Safe House, Volume 67 No. 4 Winter 2015. November 2015. For a story about a group of Johns Hopkins students who volunteer with an organization called Safe House of Hope, which tries to help prostitutes get out of sex work. They make contact through outreach rides, and hand out information to help bridge the gap between the streets and a new life.


  • Some hot summer a few minutes into the future, a family of tiny aliens that resemble both humans and succulent plants travel to Earth with the intention of seeing the sights and visiting some tourist traps. I designed and needle-felted all the members of this family for one of my senior projects (under the mentorship of Rudy Gutierrez). My intention was to create a durable art toy that all ages and genders could enjoy.

  • Avondale Type Co Artist's Series. January 2015. To promote their new typefaces, Avondale Type CO asked a variety of artists to illustrate and incorporate their fonts into a composition. Because of the liberation of time and structure, I took the opportunity to make the most detailed illustration I could possibly make. Only restrictions were to use a specific ATC Typeface.


  • The Lost Dream Journals of Santiago Ramón y Cajal. October 2015. One of three illustrations about a Spanish Biologist, Santiago Ramón y Cajal, the father of modern neuroscience, to represent the interpretations of the dreams from the Cajal diary and his lesser-known and unusual theories about dreams, along with his clash with Sigmund Freud.
