Goals of a Future Teacher

In today's constantly changing world, our children and youth need to learn inquiry-based, problem solving skills to that they may become successful members of society and live productive lives.

I think all students yearn to learn. We as future teachers need to motivate students with learning, exploring, investigating, discovering and inquiring. Together you will be learning and teaching.

As teachers, you need to be very organized and creative. Time is very valuable. When students are able to use creativity it enhances them and helps them in their learning process. Our children are natural and curious explorers.

Students need to be inspired to think critically. By this they comprehend what has been learned and be able to use it. I hope my students will be able to achieve their greatest potential that they can accomplish anything they set their minds to. We can give our children these building blocks thru education to use in decision making situations, moral value of their thoughts and actions. This will guide them to realize how their actions and decisions will affect themselves and others.

Discipline plays a key part in education. Respect from your students will make the classroom a better atmosphere. Rules should be established on the first day. Rules should be a thoughtful process so they can be carried out to be affective, but logical consequences. We do not want the students self esteem to be damaged.

I would like to teach K-3. I believe that these years of education is very crucial for learning and developing their skills. Inquiry-based learning will only enhance these curious students to explore, share ideas and ask questions. Our role as a teacher will help identify needed resources and monitor, guide the students inquiry. Children learn by doing.

We need to continuously assess and evaluate our students so we can set appropriate goals for each student and individual instructions. Each child learns different, so as a teacher we need to have different styles of teaching for positive reinforcement.

I want to be a role model for my students.

It was, however, during a time of reflection that I thought about a former football coach and the rapport that he had with me and other players. My Goals as a Teacher: Changing Student's Lives Essay - “To teach is to touch lives forever.” Erin Gruwell is an inspirational teacher that set an example of how a teacher should teach. She put her students first. So often teachers get so caught up in the standards and TEKS that the reason they became teachers in the first place is forgotten. The reason people go into teaching is because they have a passion for children and the reason teachers succeed is because they never forget that passion. In an individual life according to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs the ultimate accomplishment is self-actualization....   [tags: Education, teaching]734 words

Essay on Statement of Educational Goals and Philosophy - As a nation, the United States is very focused on education. It is viewed as one of the most important aspects in life. Teachers are not only educators, but they also set the goal for each life of the students they touch. If teachers did not exist, society, jobs, technology and everything else would not exist. We would be nothing but cavemen still drawing on the walls of caves. Teachers are not only educators, but parents and providers. They provide love to each student they come by, and provide them with the knowledge that is needed to succeed in life....   [tags: teaching goals, teaching philosophy]1326 words

I hope they will have good self esteem by encouraging and supporting them. I plan to be an active teacher by walking the isles to help guide them individually or in groups. They will be encouraged to help others on cooperative learning. This helps their communication skills. Children will learn a concept sometimes by another student.

My goal it to be a successful teacher for my students to be able to learn by exploring, being creativity, investigating and discovering their potential in this constantly changing world.

My evaluation is highly invested in the Common Core State Standards, so my professional growth has been around coming to grips with what those standards are about and how to infuse those in my classrooom. I've mentioned this in a few other posts, and I should really start a thread for discussion around it as well, but I am part of the LDC (Literacy Design Collaborative), which was created in order to help instructors with an avenue and method of teaching the Common Core. This was really designed by teachers for teachers, particularly non-literacy or English Language Arts teachers. But if there is to be a major focus on literacy in non-fiction and skills centering on evidence gathering and critical thinking and persuasion, then all teachers need to be a part of that movement.

My professional growth has pushed me towards LDC and creating "modules", independently and collaboratively with other teachers in the district / country. What the module allows me to provide is a direction for my evaluator, a day by day breakdown of my instruction, the specific core and state standards that I am addressing with each day, and the formative product, which is better than any other produce I've been able to get my students to produce, that functions as the necessary data for me to guide my instruction and have a discussion with my evaluator. With each module, I know I am directly hooked into common core and that I am doing the necessary instruction for my students to be successful. Thus, my evaluation and growth plans are aligned and positive.
